Private Birth Education Workshop

Rooted in knowledge, guided by instinct.

Birth is something your body was designed to navigate, but that doesn't mean you have to walk into it without questions, preparation, or support.

At Innate Beginnings, I believe childbirth education is about more than learning the stages of labour or practicing breathing techniques. It's about understanding the physiology of birth, exploring your options, and building confidence in your ability to make informed decisions for yourself and your baby.

Whether you're preparing for your first birth or hoping to approach your next experience with a different perspective, my private childbirth education workshop offers a relaxed, welcoming space to learn, ask questions, and prepare together.

Preparing for Birth, Together

There's no one right way to give birth, and there's certainly no one-size-fits-all approach to preparing for it.

This personalized, hands-on workshop is designed for you and your birth support partner to explore the process of labour and birth in a comfortable, judgement-free environment. We'll spend time understanding what happens in the body during labour, practicing comfort measures and positions, and discussing how your partner can play an active and meaningful role in supporting you.

My hope is that you leave feeling more connected to your body, more confident in your choices, and better equipped to navigate your birth experience, however it unfolds.

What We'll Explore Together

Understanding Birth Physiology

Learn about the incredible physiological processes involved in labour, including the hormones of birth, how your body works through each stage, and the role your environment can play in supporting labour.

Stages of Labour & What to Expect

We'll explore the stages and phases of labour, common physical and emotional changes, signs of progress, and what you and your support partner might expect along the way.

Movement, Positions & Comfort Measures

This is where we get hands-on! We'll practice labour positions, movement, breathing techniques, counterpressure, and other practical comfort measures that may help you cope with contractions and find what feels good in your body.

Preparing Your Birth Partner

Your partner has an important role in your birth experience. We'll explore ways they can offer physical comfort, emotional reassurance, practical support, and encouragement so they feel prepared and included rather than unsure of what to do.

Informed Consent & Navigating Your Options

Understanding your options is an important part of preparing for birth. We'll discuss common interventions, pain management options, informed consent, and practical tools for asking questions and making decisions that feel right for you.

The Early Postpartum Period

Birth is only the beginning. We'll also talk about those first hours and days with your baby, including recovery, feeding, rest, and preparing for a supported fourth trimester.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop might be a good fit if:

  • You're expecting your first baby and aren't quite sure what to expect from labour and birth.

  • You've given birth before but would like to feel more informed or prepared this time around.

  • You're planning a home birth, hospital birth, or birth centre birth and want education that respects your individual preferences.

  • You want your partner to feel involved, knowledgeable, and confident supporting you.

  • You're hoping to better understand physiological birth while also learning about your options if interventions become part of your experience.

  • You value a personalized learning experience where your questions and concerns have space to be heard.

You don't need to have a birth plan figured out or know exactly what kind of birth you want. We'll start wherever you are.

Why Private Childbirth Education?

There's something special about being able to learn in a space where the conversation is entirely about you.

Rather than following a rigid classroom structure, a private workshop allows us to spend more time on the topics that matter most to you. We can explore your individual questions, talk through previous experiences, and practice techniques with your own birth support partner.

It's an opportunity to slow down, get curious, and build a foundation of knowledge without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

And while I believe deeply in the body's capacity for physiological birth, I also recognize that every birth unfolds differently. My approach is grounded in evidence-informed education, informed choice, and the understanding that a supported birth isn't defined by how or where your baby arrives.

A Little More About My Approach

As a mother of five whose own birth experiences have included a caesarean, a hospital VBAC, and three home births, I know firsthand how different each journey can be.

Those experiences, alongside my background in education and doula training, have shaped the way I approach childbirth preparation. I believe knowledge and intuition can exist together. Understanding what's happening in your body doesn't replace your instincts. It gives you more tools to listen to them, ask questions, and participate meaningfully in your care.

My role isn't to tell you how you should give birth. It's to help you explore your options, recognize your own needs, and feel supported in the choices you make.
