About Me
Hi I’m Dani.
A mother of five, an educator, a birth nerd, and the heart behind Innate Beginnings.
I'm an Edmonton-based birth and postpartum doula, but long before I stepped into this work professionally, I was a mother finding my own way through pregnancy, birth, and everything that comes after.
My journey into motherhood has been anything but linear. I've experienced a cesarean birth, a hospital VBAC, and three home births, each one shaping how I understand birth, the importance of feeling supported, and the incredible capacity we have to grow into ourselves as mothers.
What stayed with me most wasn't how my babies were born, but how I felt throughout those experiences. Feeling heard, informed, respected, and cared for matters, and those feelings stay with us long after birth.
That understanding is at the heart of Innate Beginnings.
MY PASSION
I believe there is an innate wisdom within us, something that deserves to be listened to rather than overshadowed. I believe birth is a deeply personal, physiological experience, and that good support isn't about telling someone how to birth, but helping them feel informed, connected to their instincts, and confident in the decisions that are right for them.
Before becoming a doula, I worked as an elementary teacher with a background in psychology and a deep appreciation for how people learn, grow, and navigate life's transitions. Education has always been part of who I am, and I bring that same curiosity, patience, and intention into the work I do with families.
My approach to birth support is grounded in evidence-based education, informed choice, hands-on comfort, and genuine connection. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring your options, and knowing that your voice matters in every part of your care.
And I believe just as deeply in what comes after birth.
Postpartum has taught me that mothers need so much more than someone to hold the baby. They need to be nourished, listened to, cared for, and given space to recover and find their footing. Sometimes that looks like a warm homemade meal, a listening ear, practical help around the house, or simply having someone remind you that your needs still matter, too.
MY HOPE
Whether you're preparing to welcome your first baby or your fifth, planning a home birth, hospital birth, or cesarean, my hope is that you feel genuinely held through this season, with the knowledge, care, and support to make it your own.
Because you deserve someone who takes the time to know you, believes in you, and walks alongside you as you find your own way.
I'd love to be that person.
Dani
I'm a millennial, married to my favourite person, living a beautifully chaotic life with our 5 kids, 2 dogs and backyard chickens .
Outside the birth world, you'll find me baking sourdough, drinking too much coffee, thrifting, or camping with our crew. I love true crime podcasts, British crime thrillers, and a healthy amount of reality TV.
