Acupuncture is also a very important part in my practice. I most often use it in conjunction with spinal adjustments depending on the case.
Acupuncture has been around for centuries. Although we don’t know EXACTLY how it works, we just know that it can help many things. The main theories as to how acupuncture works include the following…
- Increases circulation (therefore promoting muscle relaxation)
- Releases endorphins (The body’s natural pain killers)
- Blocking the pain response to the brain
- Systemic regulation (regulation of the systems in the body…basically allowing the body to return to balance)
Acupuncture can be helpful for a variety of health issues such as musculo-skeletal pain, headaches or stress. It can also be useful for becoming pregnant (fertility) and even preparing the body and mind for labour and birth. When combined with regular chiropractic care, acupuncture may play a role in helping breech babies turn into the proper position.
Acupuncture like chiropractic, is a very safe and drug-free alternative.
